Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Board Members Present

Meeting Convened

  • Meeting convened at 5:00 PM.

Head Pro Report

  • Roger Murray reported:

    • Course conditions are good and all 27 holes are open.

    • Distribution of $2,000 to non-professional staff, funded by the Men’s Club and Memorial Tournament.

    • Confirmation that the Mesquite trip is on.

      • Courses to be played: Wolf Creek and Canistoga.

Website Discussion

  • Extensive discussion regarding the Men’s Club website.

  • Annual costs:

    • Hosting: $175

    • Domain maintenance: $175

    • Total annual cost: $350

  • Joe Brennen can continue hosting and maintaining the site for $350 per year.

  • Suggestions:

    • Post Men’s Club Board Meeting Minutes on the website.

    • Encourage greater use of the website, especially by prospective new members.

  • Motion

    • Made by John Lange to continue maintaining the website at $350 per year for at least one more year.

    • Seconded by John Levitt.

    • Motion passed unanimously.

By-Laws and Officer Roles

  • Discussion held regarding current by-laws and officer job descriptions.

  • John Lange volunteered to draft suggested job descriptions for each officer.

Budget Planning

  • John Lange requested each board member bring a proposed 2021 budget for their area of responsibility to the next meeting.

  • Discussion held regarding increasing annual dues from $150 to $175.

    • Decision postponed until the next meeting.

Handicap Chairman Update

  • The board welcomed Tom Cowley as the new Handicap Chairman, replacing Joe Brennen.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Dennis Muehlenbach agreed to send an email regarding 2021 dues:

    • Dues paid before December 31, 2020 will remain $150.

    • Dues paid in 2021 may increase to $175, pending board approval.

  • Current membership:

    • 92 Men’s Club members

  • Current finances:

    • Bank balance: $5,400

    • Planned expenditures:

      • Mesquite trip: $500

      • 2-Man Shamble: $100

      • Team Play costs: $200

      • SCGA Four-Ball Championship (Gross/Net): $400

    • Estimated balance carried into next year: $3,000

Membership Development

  • Board members agreed to actively recruit new members from playing groups and personal connections.

  • John Levitt reported having a list of six prospective new members.

Team Play and Non-Tournament Director

  • Grant Nissen reported:

    • He may be relocating within the next month, possibly before Team Play begins.

    • A replacement Non-Tournament Director will be needed.

    • A new Team Play Captain will also be required.

    • 18 members have currently signed up for Team Play.

    • An additional 10 players are needed for full participation.

  • Joe Sidoti will take charge of Two-for-Tuesday, with assistance from the Non-Tournament Director.
