Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Date: 4/19/23

Location: Men’s Club Lounge

Board Members Present

  • John Levitt – President
  • Dennis Muehlenbach – Treasurer
  • Scott Grogin – Handicap Chairman
  • Wade Lewis – Member at Large
  • Richard Vesely – Friday Skins
  • Craig Trask – Secretary

Non-Board Members Present

  • Roger Murry (Opening only)

Meeting Convened

  • A quorum was present and the meeting was convened at 5:04 PM.
  • There were no minutes to review from the previous board meeting.

President’s Report

  • Due to Team Play expenses, there are insufficient funds to contribute to the Member/Member tournament.

Membership and Reserves

  • Current active membership: Just over 71 members, down from 80 at the January 2023 meeting.
  • Current club reserves: $3,964, sufficient to cover year-end expenses.
  • 2023 Team Play exceeded budget by $900 (carts and bar bill included).
    • Possible double billing by Ramona.
    • Wade Lewis is investigating.

New Membership

  • No new members since the previous board meeting.

Tournaments and Events

  • Team Play fees must be adjusted to avoid future shortfalls.
  • Going forward:
    • Home and away Team Play fees will be the same.
    • Alcohol limited to beer and wine.
  • Fall Men’s Club Trip
    • Planned and managed by Mike McManus and Jim Sinatra.
    • Tentatively scheduled for November.
  • Friday Skins
    • Continues under Richard Vesely.
    • Several issues discussed requiring motions.
  • Two-for-Tuesday
    • Still seeking a manager.
    • Richard Vesely leading search.
    • Wade Lewis to manage first week.
    • Potential managers include Mike McManus or Jim Sinatra.
  • General Tournament Discussion
    • Handicap calculation method under review:
      • 12-month low
      • 12-month high
      • Low/high average
    • Topic remains open.
  • Shotgun Starts
    • Not being implemented.
    • John Levitt to propose a “split time” format to Roger.
    • Split time limited to 40 individual players.

Handicap Compliance

  • Scott Grogin is actively managing handicap compliance.
  • Members who are late posting scores have been addressed.

Motions

Approved

  • Purchase of additional tees (estimated $250).
  • Friday Skins fee change:
    • $25 on all Fridays.
    • $50 on the last Friday of each month.
  • Discounted membership offer to former members to encourage rejoining.

Denied

  • Elimination of handicap strokes on par 3s.
  • Installation of an ice and water dispenser (no budget available).
